I confess that I have had a love affair with milk shakes for (what I suspect is) all of my life.

It’s no wonder that when I started learning more about a healthier eating lifestyle, my heart went into overdrive when I was introduced me to the concept of smoothies.

I joke that this was back in the day when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. That might be a slight exaggeration but let’s just say that it was long before there was a Whole Foods in my neighborhood and before they were selling tofu in my local grocery store.

Today, there are stores actually dedicated to smoothies. Oh my — and yet, I confess that they are not typically a stopping place for me.

Although their proprietors have come up with super cool names for the smoothies, when it comes down to looking at the ingredients, many of them are so laced with ice cream and sugars that it’s questionable whether they are any healthier than their milkshake cousins.

So, for those of you out there who LOVE the idea of drinking something that is naturally sweet and yet full of all sorts of amazing anti-oxidants, protein and nutrients, I thought that I would share 3 powerhouse recipes that my daughter Schuyler and I swear by.

To increase Schuyler’s energy as she heals from her TBI and boost my own energy and resilience, we drink one of these incredible elixirs every day.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger of Smoothies

I can say that Schuyler and I are brimming with energy. We rarely get headaches. We virtually never get the cold or flu. Your body is your universe — the amazing capsule that holds your brilliant mind.

Fortify it. Honor it. And shower it with all sorts of yummy tasting, nutrition packed smoothies like these!
