In my last blog, I shared the three critical elements that helped me not only get a grip on the situation when my youngest daughter was crushed by a boulder, but actually get to the point where I became a (positive) force to be reckoned with. I have faced quite a few crisis situations in both my business as an entrepreneur as well as in my personal life. Nothing compared to the crisis moment when I received the news that my daughter’s injuries were so severe that it was unlikely that she would even survive long enough for me to get to her.
I have been immersed in the personal development field for decades and fortunately I realized at an early age the potential power within our minds. Trust me, when you are in the full throes of a crisis, that’s not the optimum time to try learning how to coax your mind to work in your favor. That “own worse enemy” syndrome can take over and every possible outcome seems bleak.
So what do you do — and what can you start doing now? Not only to be prepared if/when your own version of a boulder strikes but to set you up for a better quality life in general? What if adversity didn’t throw you? What if you discovered that you are actually quite resilient when life delivers those hits? And what if — because you are more resilient — you make better choices which lead to better results?
Can you see where I’m going with this?
And as much as I would love to say that it’s a silver bullet, “looking on the bright side” when you’re in a crisis can actually backfire.
The process that worked for me went much, much deeper than affirmations, mindfulness, visualization or “thinking positively”.
In this podcast, I share with you a little more deeply what my mindset really “looked like” as I dove into this process and how I got to the point where my mind created so much momentum that even the doctors got to the point where they would say, “well, technically that’s impossible– but with your family, nothing would surprise me.”
To your success and empowered mindset!
In Joy,
Meridith
